The Janus Charity Challenge is a unique fundraising program designed to help add more depth and meaning to an athlete's Ironman experience while making a world of difference in the lives of others. The momentum of this program continues to amaze us, and 2007 was no exception.
In 2007, new records were broken when our athletes brought in more than $3.6 million at the World Championship race. Kirsten Kincade also broke our individual top fundraising record by raising over $1.8 million for her charity. With these successes, the program brought in over $8.5 million this year, bringing the total raised since inception to more than $26 million!
We know an athlete’s top priority is the race itself. Through the Janus Charity Challenge friends, family members and colleagues can all be an active participant in their athletes’ Ironman journey. The program was designed to be simple and effective. Athletes are encouraged to find as many people as possible to support their fundraising efforts.
Kintera- a leading authority in online fundraising - will continue to partner with us in providing the best web-based system possible. Kintera offers extensive support and tools that we hope will take fundraising to new levels of success. Please note that Kintera will withhold $1.50 per transaction for processing plus pass-through credit card fees from all donations made online.
As a reflection of our commitment to the program and the athlete’s efforts, Janus makes additional contributions to the beneficiaries of the 50 top fundraisers at each race in the following amounts:
1st Place Individual : $10,000 donation
2nd Place Individual : $8,000 donation
3rd Place Individual : $6,000 donation
4th Place Individual : $4,000 donation
5th Place Individual : $2,000 donation
The beneficiaries of the next 30 highest fundraisers who raise a minimum of $750.00 will receive an additional contribution of $750.00 from Janus.
The beneficiaries of the next 15 highest fundraisers who raise a minimum of $500.00 will receive an additional contribution of $100.00 from Janus.
